Beach Glass Class Wire Wrapping
Thursdays, May 2, 9, 16, & 23 from 6-8pm
Color is the most complex and enigmatic element of art. This class will focus on ways artists can use color to elicit a strong aesthetic and/or emotional response from the viewer. Participants will complete a variety of hands-on exercises dealing with various aspects of color perception and application while learning terminology. Principles learned in class will provide a framework for analyzing and troubleshooting one's own work.
Fee: $165 if registered and paid by April 18; after April 18, $175. Deadline to register, April 25.

Cynthia Coté will show students how to make a beautiful, functional portfolio. Learn about basic nonstitched book binding tools, materials, and techniques to make a portfolio that holds 8.5”x 11” papers.

Saturdays, June 1 & 8 from 1-4pm
Join fiber artist Eric Hinsch to learn how to create your very own shawl or scarf. During the first session students will learn about triangular shawl/scarf construction, shaping, lace/cable/texture patterns, edgings, and yarn and needle options. During the second session, students will either cast on or continue working on their shawl/scarf. Finishing techniques, a brief historical and cultural look at shawls, for both men and women, will be given while students are working during the second session. Yarn for practicing and handouts will be provided.
Students must bring their own knitting needles. A supply list is available upon registration.

Tuesdays June 11, 18, 25 & July 2,9,16 from 6-8pm
Interested in playing with clay in a relaxed and creative environment? Join Melissa Hronkin in a six week
exploration of coil, slab, and sculptural techniques while crafting vessels, masks, tiles, and more! You will leave with several fired and finished creations. This is an adult class, but older teens welcome!
Class Fee: $120 if registered and paid by May 28; after May 28, $130. Deadline to register, June 4.

So you like to doodle and scribble on blank pieces of paper. You always wanted to learn more about drawing but were not sure where to start. Come learn some secret mysteries of the trade, how to make things look better, and how to just have fun with instructor Tammy Gajewski. Creative exploration of different ways to stimulate your drawing mind and test your visual limitation. You will leave knowing you can sketch anything and have a few laughs in the process. Open to anyone who would like to learn about drawing. Two sessions, two weeks apart.

Join our letterpress printer Daniel Schneider as he talks about the fine craft of letterpress printing, demonstrates setting type by hand, and prints a piece on one of our table top presses in the CCCAC letterpress studio.

Wood Sculpture with Stuart Baird
Friday, July 19 from 5-6pm
Local carver Stuart Baird will demonstrate his technique for creating intricate sculptures of birds and bird feathers out of wood. Stuart does not use power tools in his work - only hand tools: knives, chisels and gouges with extreme skill and patience. You will see a feather in various stages of completion and will be able to ask him questions as he works. He will have feathers available for sale.

Need some time to de-stress and re-introduce yourself to clay? Stop by Play with Clay on Wednesdays from 7-9pm. $12 for two hours of clay time. No firing, no glaze– just play and clean up! Please call the Arts Center ahead of time.
Clay Co-Op
Love clay and need a space to work on your upcoming projects? Join our Clay Co-Op! The fee to join is $30 for each 15 hour punch card and $1 per pound of clay. The fee includes existing glazes, tools, and studio usage. Previous experience with clay required before joining the Co-Op. Call Clay Co-Op Manager Tammy Gajewski at 906-281-4896.
Photography Group
Volunteers have been working to make our darkroom available for photographers. Call us if you’ve got some experience with developing black and white photography and are interested in helping out!
