SHIPSHAPE PROJECT
Help keep the CCCAC in shipshape! The Copper Country Community Arts Center is a large facility in need of regular maintenance and planned renovations. This page is dedicated to building projects assessed by our staff and board to be of critical importance. Our goal is to undertake what projects are feasible and most urgent. All maintenance and repairs are important to keep the Arts Center safe and beautiful, inside and out!
We've received a grant from the Michigan Arts and Culture Council for $7,500 and seek to raise $5,000 to help meet the match and pay for additional renovations!
Can you help us raise $5,000 by August 15th for this year's improvements? Donate to our Shipshape Project today!
This year we will be raising funds to:
- install vinyl flooring in the men's bathroom
- replace and install three new toilets for both bathrooms
- replace and install new ADA sinks and fixtures for both bathrooms
- tile the inside back entry
- have a metal railing designed, fabricated, and installed to replace the deteriorating railing on the on the side of the building
See the photos below for more information about this year's project and scroll to the bottom for information about our last Shipshape project!
In 2022 we planned to install a new side railing and tile the inside of the back entry, but with rising costs we didn't have enough funds. We have made it this year's goal to complete those projects along with updating the men's bathroom flooring along with replacing the toilets and installing new ADA fixtures in both bathrooms.
Replacement of the railing on the cement ramp leading to the Tezcuco Street doors. The railing is an important safety and accessibility feature. The current railing is warped, rotted, deteriorating and was damaged by a vehicle. Our wooden railing is in dire need of a solid replacement! We are currently working with a local metal fabricator who is designing our new railing.
The CCCAC has served the Copper Country for more than fifty years, since 1972—and the Community Arts Center has been a key part of the downtown Hancock business community since 1992. We’re committed to serving this area, continuing our mission of making the arts accessible to all.
Over the years, we’ve made many improvements to the inside of the building, making the classrooms and gallery space attractive, safe, and functional. Now, we need to attend to some pressing safety and efficiency matters. We've received a grant from the Michigan Arts and Culture Council for $7,500 and seek to raise $5,000 to help meet the match and pay for additional renovations!
