The Kalevala is the national epic poem of Finland and one of the most significant works of Finnish literature. It is rich with animal imagery. This annual open call community exhibition invites artists to delve into the Kalevala and find reference to one of the many animals to use as inspiration for their work. Fostering an Environment where the Arts and People Grow Together.
At the Copper Country Community Arts Center we work to provide arts opportunities and cultural enrichment to our community. Located in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, the CCCAC accomplishes this by offering art classes & programs for people of all ages year round, hosting community and cultural events, providing gallery space for artists to sell their work, running a working letterpress studio, clay studio, and black & white photography darkroom, helping emerging artists with professional development, managing a strong volunteer program, assisting students launch art careers via internships, and providing exhibition opportunities.
