Randy Wakeham was born and raised in the Copper Country. He studied at Finlandia University's School of Art and Design and earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2004. All of his subject matter relates to the local natural landscape. When working on his paintings he starts with the question, “What do I love about about being here?” He doesn't always get a clear answer but he says that water keeps coming up. Being surrounded by water is the reason many people love being here. Randy captures the gentle movement of water as well as the drama of water in motion. He has mastered the shapes that water takes in all of its moods and how it meets the shore. This summer he was commissioned by the City of Hancock to paint the mural at the corner of Ryan Street and Quincy.
Please join us in celebrating Randy's new body of work at the reception and gallery talk on Thursday, September 12 from 6 to 7:30.

Kerredge Gallery October 10-November 2, 2024
Opening reception: Thursday October 10th from 6-7:30pm
This exhibition will feature the work of close to twenty guild members who are working in various fiber arts techniques to create functional woven goods, baskets, felted wool, quilts, bead knitting, and rugs that are woven, punch needle, and ryijy.
The Buellwood Weaver’s Guild began with Dorothea Buell in Chassell, Michigan. She had 17 looms at her home and started a 17-member weaving guild.
The Buellwood Weaver’s Guild has been in existence since the early 1950’s and for many years membership ranged between 15-20. Participation has grown to 43 active guild members including artists who spin, dye, knit, felt, quilt, and make baskets. Please join us for the opening reception on Thursday October 10th from 6-7:30pm.
The Guild meets monthly in the Finlandia Foundation National Finnish American Folk School fiber studio, room 105 in the former Lily I. Jutila building at 200 Michigan Street, Hancock. Meeting days are the 3rd Saturday of the month at 1 pm from October to May and the 3rd Monday of June, July and August also at 1 pm. Recent meetings have included presentations of natural dyeing, spinning and plying techniques, fellowship study of weaving in Finland, an extensive and beautiful collection of drop spindles, a hands-on stitch resist dye session, and visible mending methods. Each September the Guild hosts a weekend retreat with demonstrations, workshops and information sharing. New members are always welcome!
