47th annual Poor Artists Sale
Saturday, December 2nd 2023 CLK Gym, Calumet
The Poor Artists Sale is an annual juried holiday art fair hosted by the Copper Country Community Arts Council as a benefit for the Community Arts Center in Hancock. It features fine art and craft from local and regional artists. One of the longest running holiday art shows in the Copper Country, it draws established artists and large crowds of holiday shoppers. The Poor Artists Sale is held the first Saturday in December at the CLK Gym in Calumet.

ENTRY DETAILS
ELIGIBILITY This is a juried art fair. All artists and craftspersons in any media who make their own ORIGINAL work may apply. Prints must be of the exhibiting artist’s work only. Clothing, fiber, and needlework must be designed by the artist. It is unacceptable to use copies of other artists’ work or cast ceramics, commercial greeting cards, commercial settings for jewelry, or commercial patterns. Artists exhibiting works that do not meet these guidelines will be disqualified from future Poor Artists Sales. The committee reserves the right to make final decisions on entries. Sharing a booth? Both artists must apply.
BOOTH FEE $75. If you are not accepted, your fee will be returned to you. No refunds will be given for cancellations after November 15. If you are a current CCCAC member, your booth fee is $65.
DEADLINE to apply is Tuesday, OCTOBER 3, 2023!
COVID-19 We will follow CDC recommendations and any state regulations at the time of the Poor Artists Sale. In the event of cancellation, your booth fee will be returned to you.
ALL ARTISTS MUST SUBMIT 3-5 DIGITAL PHOTOS REPRESENTATIVE OF THEIR WORK. Do not submit actual artwork. When you email images of your work, it is preferred you label each image with “Your Name-Title-Medium” Only high quality, digital photos can be used to promote the event. JPEGs only! Please do not send other formats.
NOTIFICATION will be sent the week of October 10th. Please do not call regarding the status of your application. No refunds after November 1st. LOCATION Calumet Public School Gymnasium off of Calumet Avenue (US 41) in Calumet. DATE & HOURS Saturday, December 2nd from 10am-4pm for CCCAC members; 11am-4pm for the general public. We advertise that we will be there until 4pm. |

DISPLAY Booth spaces are 10’ deep by 10’ across. A larger space is available for artists using wheelchairs. Artists must bring their own display materials, tables, and chairs. The school will not have tables available. If you require electricity please note on entry form. You will be responsible for extension cords and duct tape to safely secure electrical cords. Artists’ booths must be attended at all times. The CCCAC will provide relief people for artists coming alone. All work must be clearly marked with the price. Exhibitors are responsible for their own Michigan sales tax.
SET UP Friday evening, 8-10pm, any changes will be listed in the acceptance letter. The building will open at 8am on Saturday. All exhibitors must be set up by 9:45am the day of the sale. Complimentary coffee and bakery will be available to exhibitors during set up on Saturday morning.
BEST BOOTH AWARDS Beautiful or interesting booth displays draw more shoppers. If that’s not incentive enough, how about free entry in to next year’s sale? We will have a team of judges selecting awardees.
